Attendance In this intensive course, full attendance is necessary. We recognize, however, that some circumstances make absence unavoidable. You will be required to attend a minimum of 90% of this course. We expect to be notified in advance of any planned absence and to receive explanations for unplanned absence due to illness etc. When necessary, students will be required to complete missed weekends during a subsequent year.
Assignments
Each weekend you will be given a number of set tasks which will mostly have to be completed by the next teaching session. Once the course has started running, the process will normally work like this: At the beginning of each weekend session, you will hand in a folder containing the work you have completed during the previous month. At the end of the same workshop, we will give you a second folder containing any of your previous work we have already assessed, plus new guidelines for the coming month’s work. Set tasks will usually be related to the themes explored in the previous weekend, and/or will prepare for the following one. There will be four main categories of work: Study, Arts & Crafts, Experience and Practice, Key Task. We will supply the A4 folders and the guidance; you will supply the work. You should provide yourself with an A2 folder for artwork. In addition to the above, you will be expected to keep well-ordered notes as a record of the course content and your responses to it. |

Assessment Regarding all aspects of the course, assessment will be continuous and qualitative. We will do our best to inform you in a clear and constructive way of areas of strength and weakness. In addition, each month’s work will include a key task that will be assessed more formally. With each month’s assignments, you will be asked to return a ‘Self Check’ form, in which you can inform us of any particular challenges or enjoyment you experienced in completing the work. If you are struggling, we will discuss how best to proceed and agree an action plan to tackle any areas of difficulty. Tutors and Tutorials Angela Querido and Martin Hardiman are the Core Tutors and will provide time for tutorials each weekend. If you need advice between weekends, you can contact them by email or phone. They will also mark your assignments and inform you of your progress. To optimize communication, you will need an email address and easy access to the internet. Criminal Records Bureau If you have not already undertaken a CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check, you will need to do so before you will be allowed to work with children. If you do not have a CRB disclosure, we will help you obtain one. The CRB currently charges a fee of £45-00, which you will have to pay.
Certification
While Qualified Teacher Status remains inextricably linked to the National Curriculum in England, it is difficult to provide external accreditation for part time Steiner Waldorf Teacher Training. Although we continue to explore possibilities, the current course has no State-recognised validation. Its quality, however, is well recognised within Steiner Waldorf circles and not least by former students, many of whom are successful teachers. |

Accommodation and Meals If you need accommodation, we have a list of local people who are willing to provide bed and breakfast relatively cheaply and we will help you in making the necessary arrangements. Alternatively, you can do this independently. Students will be responsible for providing their own meals. Simple cooking facilities are available and cafes and supermarkets are a ten minute walk away from the venue. |
